    Climate policy issues within the context of the COP24 - UN Climate Summit to be held in December in Katowice were main subject of a meeting on August 23 between Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Canada Andrzej Kurnicki and Canada’s Ambassador for Climate Change Patricia Fuller.

     

    On August 23, Ambassador Andrzej Kurnicki hosted Canada’s Ambassador for Climate Change Patricia Fuller. Ambassador Andrzej Kurnicki pointed out that the COP24 summit provides an excellent opportunity to strengthen relations between Poland and Canada, especially in the field of new pro-environmental technologies. He emphasized the importance of developing clean coal technologies and the strategic role of natural gas in transition to a low-carbon economy.

     

    Furthermore, Ambassador Kurnicki informed about Impact mobility rEVolution'18 to be held in Katowice September 12-13, an event organized in the light of the Polish Presidency of the Climate Convention. Environment ministers from all over the world, including Canada’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change Catherine McKenna, are invited to attend.

     

    The COP24 - 24th Session of the of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will be held in Katowice on December 3-14, 2018. Poland will hold the Presidency of the Climate Convention for the third time (Poland hosted UN Climate Summits in 2008, in Poznań and in 2013, in Warsaw).
